In March of 2022 the City of Marshall purchased the property located at 868 S. Brunswick Avenue, more commonly known as the Old Fitzgibbon Hospital property. After years of vacancy the old hospital building was beyond repair and the intent of the purchase was to demolish the remains of the building and to mitigate any hazards found within the building and on the grounds.
The demolition and hazard mitigation process was completed in October of 2023 and in December of 2023 the City announced a request for proposals to develop the property into single unit family houses. Bids were received through January 17, 2024 and are currently being reviewed by the City Council.
